Customer-Specific Fasteners Manufactured from Stock Blanks

When a new customer approached Victory Fasteners with an urgent requirement for a specialised countersunk screw, our in-house manufacturing flexibility and extensive stockholding enabled us to respond promptly.

The component was based on an M24 × 90 Grade 10.9 DIN 7991 countersunk screw, incorporating two important customer-specific features: a 60° head angle and a left-hand thread.

The Requirement

Left-hand threaded fasteners are typically required for applications where conventional right-hand threads may loosen under rotational forces, or where equipment design demands a reverse thread direction.

In this instance, the customer required an M24 countersunk screw combining a left-hand thread with a non-standard 60° head angle. The urgent timescale also meant that a responsive manufacturing route was essential.

Manufacturing from Stock Blanks

Victory Fasteners maintains high inventory levels across a comprehensive range of fastener blanks. This stockholding provides a flexible starting point for producing bespoke and non-standard components without relying on a completely new manufacturing route.

A suitable Grade 10.9 countersunk blank was selected from stock before the left-hand thread was CNC single-point finished in-house.

Single-point thread machining provides controlled production of specialised thread forms and directions, making it particularly suitable for low-volume, urgent and customer-specific requirements.

In-House Flexibility and Responsive Customer Service

This project demonstrates how investment in stock, machining capability and proactive customer service allows Victory Fasteners to respond to requirements that cannot readily be fulfilled using standard off-the-shelf components.

For this new customer, the combination of suitable stock blanks and in-house CNC manufacturing provided a practical route for producing the required component to the specified configuration.
